Hamelink NAILS it...

The first race of the Indycar season started off with a bit of an uneventful but successful race for Vermin and Max Hamelink especially. Quickest in Qualifying his closest challenger was team mate Oscar Williams, putting both Vermin's on the front row. Maxi Junger had a strong qualifying performance too lining up 5th, just ahead of the Triple Eight VDT of Alex Cochrane.

As the race got underway Max controlled the race, with Oscar second until the pit stops when he nudged the wall on the exit, he would fight to catch Nick Wu but could not quite catch him with the remaining laps left and had to settle for 2nd. Maxi had some issues dropping down the pack and having to unlap himself then was taken out of the race by a wild dive from another driver and forced to retire his car.

Triple Eight's Alex started on lower fuel and pitted earlier than the other drivers around him, unfortunately this lead to the 2nd stint of his race struggling to make any ground but he did manage to keep hold of 10th and gain valuable points.

Max could quite easily cruise to victory after Oscar's mistake as Nick Wu could not catch him as he increased his lead and took the flag in style.

You can watch the full re-run of the race here:

We are already looking forward to both teams performing at the next race in Sebring in 2 weeks time (17th May) Congratulations guys and everyone for a mostly clean race in these beasts!
