Hamelink's 4th in a row! *UPDATE*

Updated: Jun 16, 2020

The weekend saw Vermin Racing competing in ARL's F3 series and Formula Trout's Indy car series.

Alex Cochrane performed well in ARL but was unfortunately involved in clashes on track in race 1 and race 2 which ruined his chances of solid points, however in Race 2 Alex recovered from being shunted off the track whilst leading to the final podium place, but he had the pace to win both races, just not the luck. *update* After applied penalties Alex was awarded 2nd place.

However the indy car series was a very different story. Max Hamelink was again virtually unstoppable, but new arrival Marc DeGras would challenge Max and kept it close. Richard Tippet had mixed fortunes unable to really string together a lap in qualifying saw him way down the grid compared to his practice pace, this put him right in the middle of the pack.

Lewis Kent made a good start slipping past Richard and several cars, before Lewis ran wide clipped the wall and was thrown across the track into the path of Richard and all the cars that were following. The race should have been either red flagged or safety car, almost all the cars limped back to the pits and would return to the track a lap down. Richard fuelled his car up fully and set about chasing down the cars in front which would lead to an interesting battle with Kay Mann during the closing stages of the race, but Richard would still have to have a splash and dash to prevent from running out of fuel, eventually crossing the line in 8th.

Alex had another solid performance running 4th for almost the entire race, inheriting 3rd when Marc DeGras' blew his engine on the penultimate lap, Alex himself would have to limp his car across the line as he was running on fumes but had secured a large enough margin to coast over and grab another podium. After Lewis' huge accident on Lap 1, he could not seem to keep pace and eventually retired his car, but he should be a lot stronger in the next race with some more practice under his belt.

Keira Harris was unfortunately another casualty of the lap 1 carnage and would have to just get her head down and plough through the race which she did with determination finishing 11th by the time the flag had been waved.

Max took his fourth win in a row in the series and now looks virtually unstoppable for the title. but with still just over half the season left there are still a lot of points on offer and a lot of promising drivers out there who won't give it up.

Well done
