Max Hamelink managed to seal the drivers championship up at Watkins Glen with a good performance. Richard could not improve his laptimes after electing to stay out one lap too long in qualifying and ending up 5th overall after running out of fuel. The Race got no better for Richard as he dropped back struggling with his tyres in the first couple of laps then suffering as t]he tyres went through a heat and grip loss, Max kept a cool head as he was jumped at the pitstops and was now running 2nd behind Andreas Schilderwho was trying a different strategy which allowed Max to retake 1st after a 2nd pit stop for Schilder. Richard started to find more grip as the tyres came alive again before pitting, his pace improved and he was at one point back in the top 5 but sadly could only manage 7th by the end of the race for a really dissapointing result. However Max's win put the drivers championship out of reach for anyone else.
Congratulations to Max for winning the championship after a great season. Now the only thing left to do will be the Indy 250 this weekend.
Richard can still grab 3rd place in the championship but with the recent run of results it is looking increasingly difficult.
