So round 1 of the Hyrbrid Season got underway at Bahrain with a perfect weekend for Max Hamelink and a great weekend in general for the team.
Qualfying was very close but it was Andreas Schilder who took pole followed by Max and Urmas Riis, with Oscar in 5th and Tim Omloo 8th for Triple Eight. Schilder quickly lost a lot of pace in the race having symptons of Corona. (Get well soon) It was a race between Riis, Max, Oscar and Paul Magzire as the four would battle before the first pit stops. High track temps caused some drivers to struggle and a few uncharacteristic spins. Riis lost quite a bit of time going off track and letting Max through into the lead. Magzire was blisteringly fast in the final stages of the as he closed the gap to Oscar. A late spin from Oscar allowed Magzire to pass and gain 2nd. Another error from Oscar allowed Riis to gain the final podium spot as Oscar had to limp home in 4th. Tim dragged his Triple Eight over the line in 9th with Karlis Skirmanis managing 18th. Max took the victory with a comfortable gap and took the lead of the championship.
