Oscar + Romania = Oscarmania?

A spectacular performance from Oscar and Maxi in National Digital Circuit Championship has propelled our boys and team into the spotlight. Oscar debuted with a win in race 1 of round 3 of the championship and 4th in race 2, with Maxi's excellent performance the previous round we made headlines in Romania as the event's are televised and streamed. Oscar was interviewed for a Romania website (translated below but the link to the original article is here: https://www.prosport.ro/alte-sporturi/auto-moto/din-simulator-intr-o-cursa-reala-povestea-unui-vis-devenit-realitate-senzatia-e-incredibila-video-19022395 ) and also for a short TV spot on romanian Television (linked below). Again this proves the teams dedication and commitment to becoming one of the best and thanks to the hard work of the drivers we are getting there. I am proud of the team especially during such hard times.

From the simulator, in a real race! The story of a dream come true: "The feeling is incredible" VIDEO

Author: Alin Grigore Published: 04 May. 2020, 17:29 Auto-Moto The winner of the third stage of the National Digital Circuit Championship Betano, the Welshman Oscar Williams has a story that offers hope to all sim racing enthusiasts to one day become racing drivers in real life.

The fastest in qualifying, 1st in the first race and 4th in the second when the starting grid was reversed, Oscar Williams collected 37 points at the Nurburgring and is announced as one of the contenders for the first edition of the digital competition launched by FRAS three weeks ago. Enrolled in the championship through the CRG Romania Racing team, known mainly due to the karting activity, the young man is one of the best rated esports drivers in Europe, but he had no contact with real motorsport until last year. In 2019, Oscar was given the chance to make the transition from the living room simulator to a real Renault Formula car and he did it brilliantly, showing that it is just a step from the position of gamer to that of real driver. "The simulator prepares you for what it will be like in real life" "The feeling you get when you feel the speed and all the energy that a racing car gives you is incredible, it can't be compared to the simulator. What is important is that the simulator prepares you for what will be in real life in motorsport. I think the difference is in the senses. In sim racing, the visual matters a lot, and when you are in a racing car there are many other things you have to keep in mind ", says Oscar. With over 2,200 hours in the simulator on Asetto Corsa and iRacing, the current competitor in the National Digital Circuit Championship dreams of a career in motorsport and encourages other gamers to have a similar goal. In fact, FRAS put into play 3 rally and defensive driving courses for the occupants of the podium from the ESD Class from CNDC Betano. "I think it's the ultimate dream for me, but until then I develop my skills here on the simulator", added the multiple champion in sim racing. He also said he was delighted with the level he met at his debut in the National Digital Circuit Championship. "I find them very competitive and I was impressed by the respect and discipline that the competitors have. I can't wait for the next round and in this way I thank those from CRG and Vermin Racing Team for the chance, but also FRAS for creating this competition ", concluded Oscar Williams.

The fourth stage of the Betano National Digital Circuit Championship is scheduled for Friday, May 8, on the Catalunya circuit in Barcelona. Pre-qualifications have already started, and registration is open for both FRAS licensed pilots and gamers. All registration details are available here.
