Visiting VAR

Updated: Apr 12, 2020

Recently our excellent Vermin Formula Experience driver took a trip to Van Amersfoort's team simulators to prepare for the VFE 2020 events, here is what he had to say about the journey.

"I want to share my experience on the simulator in the Dutch team Van Amersfoort race performing in Junior formula (F4, F3). The Kokpit of the simulator is a real-time-old-2000 s. The Pedals are used from the well-known thread producer Heusinkveld, the version of the ultimate. Such pedals allow you to model pressure up to 136 kg, which fits the peak of youth formula (110-120 kg). The wheel base is of course a direct drive wheel with a pretty strong end. The drive itself is at the end of the monokoka in the area of the teachers and the force on the wheel is passed by the river. The wheel is a battle version from the French company xap, this model is used on the formula of the renault and some version of formula 3.. The picture of the track is shown by three projects on the cotton surface. Looks pretty realistic about the review from the real pain. There are also belt belt, which allows you to fix the body from moving while driving and teachers. The battery itself is based on the platform platform with the simple changes made by the team by their engineers (mostly for the pain models). All the tracks are a laser Juan and team buy if there's any missing.

The process of working on the simulator is built as follows. All day you have a race engineer to analyze your telemetry and on-board, give feedback and set concrete goals to improve pilot. On average, one test drive lasts 10-12 circles, after which you and an engineer go through each turn and form a list of what to work on the next session. First work is going to fix rude mistakes and then, as we move on to small ones. I worked on the track in Barcelona as I wanted to get ready for the upcoming test there on the formula formula. The main focus was built on the brake technique. It was necessary to work both the power of pressure and the technique of progressive release of the field. Everything sounds easy in theory, but it takes time to create a boring memory. My work on the simulator took a day and a half, made good progress. About the link of the circle I came close to 1 seconds. If you talk about what is the difference in working on a team and just driving at home, I would share the following: 1) having a date of an engineer that constantly leads to the area where you need to fix the mistakes 2) improve your reading skills and understanding of telemetry 3) big screen, pain, professional wheel, professional wheel and pedals increase 4) if at home it's more like a fan, then working on the basis you treat it like a real job. I highly recommend all young athletes or passionate fans to get this experience. This is a good preparation for real rides."
